Profile
Jan studied Art History, Curatorship Theory and Practice as well as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art graduating from Monash University in 2005 with a BA (Humanities, Communications and Social Sciences). Since then she has worked on numerous art projects for the Eurobodalla Shire Council and the NSW South East Arts Region as Curator, Arts Writer and Artist.

In January of this year she moved to Melbourne to further her own art practise after being a finalist in the 2008 Williamstown Contemporary Art Prize, The Fishers Ghost Art Award, the John Briscoe Art Award and the Country Energy Countryscapes Art Prize.

Artists Statement, for the Order and Chaos Series:
"I work with expressionism and sometimes employ symbolism to use as metaphors for the ideas I am exploring. My recent works stem from the notion that a new born baby’s cry does not distinguish its race, religion or gender…in that sense, from the beginning, we’re all the same. Circumstances however (sometimes beyond our control) and the decisions we make throughout life affect and effect who we become."
